Spend some quality time with your daughter. Read the Girlhood Home Companion, together ~

"I am often asked what ages are appropriate for The Girlhood Home Companion. We like to think that you will read the companion to younger daughters, ages 10-12, and discuss it with older daughters, ages 13-18. Of course, there is no reason why you cannot gather with all of your daughters, young and old (and grandmothers, too), to read and discuss the articles found within these pages. In fact, we think that reading The Girlhood weekly at afternoon tea would make a lovely tradition. In that case, dear mother, you will have to hide The Girlhood from your daughters the minute it arrives in the mail.

"During the Victorian era, when life moved at a much slower pace, there were distinct periods of development in a girl’s life: babyhood, childhood, girlhood, and womanhood. I have seen a marked difference between the girl my oldest daughter used to be, and the lovely woman she has become in Christ. One thing I firmly believe is that girlhood is a priceless training ground that should not be rushed. Make the Girlhood Home Companion a tradition in your home."

My Girlhood

By Mrs. Jill Novak

My girlhood is a pleasant place

Where life and love abound,

For here it is that all I am

Is waiting to be found.

In play I spend an endless time

Where only I can go,

A child still inside the girl

A pure-white, budding rose.

My girlhood is a time for God

His hand, His voice, His face,

His steady stream of steadfast love

Within my days I trace.

I rest assured of this one thing

He'll never leave my side,

For in my girlhood heart of hearts

He always will abide.

My girlhood home is all I need

To learn of servant-hood,

For here my Father and my Mother

Seek only what is good.

They take the time to teach me well

And help me understand,

That girlhood is a time of life

To lend a helping hand.

My girlhood is a priceless gift

A training ground, you see,

Where love for others, sisters and brothers

Will always be the key.

For God will cover my girlhood years

In all I do and say,

'Till someday a woman I will be

When girlhood passes away.

“ This is exactly what I have been looking for; something that I can sit down and read with my daughter as we have one on one time together—as we talk about how to be a godly young woman and seek God's will for her life—to focus on virtuous character and teach her that character while God molds and works on her through prayer! ”

"I received my back issue compilation of Girlhood Home Companion about a month ago. It will take me a while to work my way through it, but I have enjoyed what I have read so far. I especially appreciate the spirit in which everything is written, especially since we are surrounded by a culture that denigrates the roles of homemaker and mother. I am leading a group for girls this spring and I tell them the purpose of the club is to equip them to make their homes places of ministry and industry. Girlhood Home Companion is doing a wonderful job equipping me so I can equip them."

Thank You!

The Girlhood Home Companion is a beautiful 4-color companion guide, magazine, and study in character all rolled into one publication. The Girlhood Home Companion encourages young ladies (ages 10-18) how to enjoy their precious girlhood years while walking closely with the Lord and developing a deeper relationship with Him. Filled with the wisdom of writers from the past and present, each edition of The Girlhood Home Companion features encouraging articles and stories that center on one character quality per issue. Each theme is explored in-depth through editorials, articles, and stories that will minister to the heart of your daughter, while teaching her the practical skills of homemaking, cooking, crafts, sewing and other girlhood pastimes.

Originally produced from 1998 to 2001 and back by popular demand, there is nothing so lovingly designed with the heart of a Christian girl in mind as the The Girlhood Home Companion.

I was never encouraged to love being a girl and rejoice in my femininity, but now I do. Thank you for your part in helping that come to pass! I just love your family and all that you have done to help me. May God bless you for your many efforts.

Just letting you know The Girlhood arrived safely to us both here in Australia. I am loving my copy. I've read some to my girls they too have enjoyed the magazine and can't wait to have their go at it! Thank you so much for posting it all this way… it is so pretty!

I received a copy of The Girlhood – Mothers & Daughters Holding Hands. It is wonderful!  My oldest daughter is 12. At one time I let her receive a Christian youth magazine that was geared towards her age group. We finally realized we didn’t want a magazine that focused on the popular things of the day – movies, technology, latest fashions, etc. It wasn’t at all what we were looking for. Your magazine is really lovely. Thank you for producing such a quality item.I don’t have much time to read magazines these days (we have 5, the youngest is 8 months) but I am looking forward to sharing it with my daughters.

Thank you,

Carri A.

Last week I made “Heavenly Potato Rolls” from the Christmas 2006 issue, and they were gorgeous! Everyone in my family loved them and my brother even looked crestfallen when he saw there was only one left on the table, which was a good compliment since he does not normally like “new recipes.” The rolls are fun and easy to make. Thank you for giving me a brilliant recipe that tastes fantastic. By the way, I love The Girlhood. It is a great read and it’s nice to think that someone cares about us Christian girls so much that they made a magazine for us.

Yours,

Rachel D.

My husband is currently undergoing pre-deployment training in another state.  In a few weeks, we'll be saying "see you later" for a year as he heads overseas to "the sandbox." The Girlhood about perseverance was truly a Godsend and just what I needed last night. My daughter and I will be reading it together over the next few days; I read almost all of it last night. I hope to be able to purchase the rest of the back issues in the near future as well as a new subscription.  I was truly blessed by this issue. May God bless your ministry.

I just had to write and say thank you for creating such a wonderful magazine for Christian girls. I was so impressed by it that I had to write a little snippet on my blog letting everyone know about this magazine. May the Lord bless you and your family for your dedication to mentoring young women, as well as aiding their Moms and Grandmas in mentoring them through this beautiful magazine.

Thank you,

Kelly M.

We are so happy you are producing these magazines! They are just perfect for my older daughter. She so wants to be a feminine young lady who follows Gods path and there is not much out there for that age that is suitable.

Thanks and God bless,

Ann E.
